Position Description

Position Title: Program Director

Program: Manatee

Position Level: Director

Reports to: Executive Director, Manatee

Position Function/Overview:

This position is responsible for both administrative tasks and provision of client services. The Program Director is to provide leadership, supervision and management of the program and services designed by the agency. This position must maintain a wide range of working relationships internally and externally, advocate for client-driven and responsive services, and provide consistent leadership for team. The individual holding this position ensures quality services to clients through the supervision and training of staff.

The Program Director is expected to function somewhat independently. Work is reviewed through regular conferences, work audits and general supervision. Initiative is encouraged consistent with the individual's assignments, background and experience.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that the team's programs support the accomplishment of the Mission and strategic goals of the agency and are responsive to the specific needs of the community.
  • Oversees all clinical processes in Manatee Programs.
  • Maintains good working relationships with funders and other agencies in the community which serve similar populations and community groups which represent sources of clients and/or support.
  • Provides individual supervision to master's level student interns and counselors at both Manatee sites.
  • Works with program staff and Public Relations team to develop and implement an effective outreach plan which focuses on the agency's constituencies and is directed at the appropriate individual(s) within those constituencies.
  • Ensures that the team is staffed at the appropriate level with individuals whose skills, abilities and accreditation's are suited to their job responsibilities.
  • Establishes challenging yet realistic work objectives/standards for self, staff and team; encourage staff to develop new and innovative ways to improve existing job functions.
  • Develops staff by providing opportunities to obtain skill and knowledge related to current and future jobs through cross-training, assignment of special projects and review of current job-related literature.
  • Assesses training needs of counseling and other staff and provides input in development of inservice training plan.
  • Provides individual supervision to master's level student interns and Family Counselors.
  • Conducts regular treatment team and clinical staff meetings
  • Conducts individual, family and group assessments and counseling sessions as needed..
  • Ensures the completion of required reports to address funders' contract compliance and internal quality control and data collection needs.
  • Helps develop, implement and monitor the team's budget. Ensures that the program's financial resources are effectively managed; ensures that the program complies with established fiscal policies, procedures and controls.
  • Administers process evaluation by identifying and monitoring key indicators.

Qualifications Required:

  • Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work or related field.
  • Licensure as Clinical Social Worker, Mental Health Counselor or Marriage and Family Therapist
  • Minimum of three years of individual, group and family counseling experience.
  • Ability to lead in a team environment to provide quality services to the community.
  • Possess good organizational, verbal and written skills.
  • Must be dependable, be discreet and possess good judgment.
  • The possession of a personal cellular phone is required for use in accordance with agency policy and procedures.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with individuals from a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Must demonstrate awareness and acceptance of cultural differences of clients, staff and community contacts
