Charity Navigator Certificate
Family Resources has been awarded its third consecutive 4-star rating from Charity Navigator. This is their highest possible rating and indicates that Family Resources exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in our area of work. Charity Navigator aims to provide donors with essential information to give them greater confidence in both the charitable decisions they make and the nonprofit sector. Only 23% of charities evaluated by Charity Navigator receive at least 3 consecutive 4-star evaluations.

The “Sheltering Kids from the Storm” Harborside Happy Hour at St. Pete Yacht Club was a great success. Family Resources hosted the event as part of the 2018 Giving Challenge on May 1. There was a great turnout of community support, including Congressman Charlie Crist, pictured here with some of the kids in our Youth Enrichment Program.

Morning Blend
CEO, Lisa Davis and Larry Biddle sat down with Tampa Bay’s Morning Blend to share how  youth homelessness is a real issue in the Tampa Bay area. Family Resources is bringing together community stakeholders to address the needs of  homeless and housing insecure youth to ensure a continuum of care from helping youth remain in their homes to finding permanent housing if necessary. South Africa outing
The kids in our SafePlace2B shelters are traveling the world this summer right here in Tampa Bay. They visited Wheat Field Cafe Baker in Tampa for meat pies from South Africa. The cafe owners, Guy and Nadia, spoke to the kids about growing up in South Africa, schooling, cultures, races, apartheid, and the animals. They also answered all of our questions and really just held the kids’ attentions with brilliant ‘story’ telling.

All of the kids were a bit reticent to go eat “weird” food, but they all tried (AND LOVED) what they ordered. It was a cool thing to watch their trepidation with the first bite and their gusto to get it in their mouths after that. Happy smiles all around!

SNAP Graduates
Parents and children have shown dedication and commitment to graduating the 13-week SNAP (Stop, Now, and Plan) Program and as a result their family has benefited from the results.

One mom who completed the program said, “I have learned to be more patient with both my girls and to stop and listen to each of them as an individual. SNAP has made us much closer.”
